Clutch Pedal HELP PLEASE!!!

So, when I'm driving along, accelerating or not, and resting my foot on the clutch pedal (I know I'm not supposed to!), the pedal has started to loose resistance so eventually my foot is nearly on the floor. I then lift my foot and resistance is back for a few moments until the process repeats. Also, when the engine is really warm, it is getting quite difficult to get into gear. Any ideas please?

Is that dangerous? I have just read the brakes failing thread, and as I use my van daily to ferry the kids around, I need to sort it sharpish if it affects the brakes. Please excuse my ignorance, I'm a bit 'green' when it comes to engines.

But one day you may not be able to change gear.....

pull the cover off the instrument pod and top up the hydraulic fluid. Then get the cutch system checked.
:D

Thanks for all your advice. I have now found all the info on the Wiki and I'm a bit better informed. As for my 16 year old habit, I am trying.... :)

Down next to your clutch pedal is a nice little platform thingy to rest your foot on.
