Sound deadening alternatives

Hi,

I have poured over the numerous posts regarding insulating your van but am looking for a cheap way of sound deadening our van before thermally insulating it.

Is there anything out there that is fairly cheap but still effective. Dynamat is selling a £80 for 5 sheets and we can't really afford that so is there anything else that people have used that works?

Cheers,

Chris

Use self adhesive flashing tape. Works very well, and is cheap..ish. From Screwfix 225mm x 10m rolls.

Noticed a huge difference.

Tetrosyl do bituminous pads 50x50cm in a pack of four for about £25.

However if you do the insulation properly this should have a similar effect. When I did my Kombi I used a closed-cell foam from Reimo, which comes in massive sheets in various thicknesses. Bonded to panels with a decent adhesive, this is a pretty good sound-deadening material.

Thanks everyone for your input - got plenty of options to consider now although I think earplugs is the only one that will drown out the missus!!

Many thanks,

Chris
