does any one camp with out an eber?, to be honest ive never seen one when do you have it running? i ve been away in mine at the coldest times in the year and just leave the normal heating on for 5 mins then turn it off and go bed .,(i just take lots of bedding) and i survived to the next day in comfort?

does any one use the silver thermo curtains?(from justkampers) by themselves? they ok? as ive not tested yet cheers

Loads of folk use, and swear by, the 'thermo curtains' - both for keeping the van cool, and warm - and from experience of sitting in other people's vans at night I'd say they work very well indeed.

We bought an ebber for our first van because it had no heating, and we had 3 little kids. The ebber moved to the new van because that had no heating either....

Have never had the ebber on overnight, and last year at Dubfreeze the leisure battery was drained by teatime Saturday, so didn't have any heating then at all - I lived......like you say yourself - just take loads of bedding, wear a hat and gloves, you'll be fine......

i used to camp with out heating or thermo mats, just a big sleeping bag! never did me any harm, but i have to admit the warmsth from my heater is fantastic, even if it's just so i don't have to get dressed in the cold!!

Did 5 months in a carpark in France with silver screens and an Eberspacher with temps down to 15 below.
got a bit nippy, to be honest the heater didn't stay on too long, long enough to be able to get in and out of bed. Once your asleep you don't really need it.

We don't have one. When its stupidly cold we just get electric hookup and plug a fan heater in for a bit. To be honest though, we very rarely need it. Didn't bother in November, and if you wrap up and doors are shut, it soon warms up. Esp if you make a brew in the van etc.

We're goign away next weeked if we can get a site with hookup, as I like to have it as backup really. Although if weather is like it has been this weekend, I wouldn't be too bothered if i had hookup or not. Like you say, if you have a few blankets etc you'll be reyt. Esp if you've had a few drinks first! :D

We have an eber in the van but as yet it's not working - suspect is the leisure battery. We've only stayed in the van twice since we got it in October once was in Dunkerque on the way back here and the other was in our mates garden at new year as we were safer there than in the house :D it been Scotland and all it was freezing as it usually is and we survived quite happily with the duvet and a fleecy blanket, we will be doing the same for Dubfreeze but hubby is getting a new battery so the eber might be working then. :D

I slept in my camper in the snow over Christmas. I didn't need a heater - just used a sleeping bag with duvet over the top and for extra measure I wore my hat. Toasty warm and slept like a log.

If you prepare yourself properly then you will have a kettle of water waiting to be boiled in the morning and from downstairs you can light the stove without getting out of your sleeping bag. Boiling a kettle of water is usually enough to take the edge off the temperature enough to get dressed in comfort with the added bonus of a hot drink at the end of it!

Don't use the stove to heat the van all the while though - it needs ventillation.

Not AT Dubfreeze - FOR Dubfreeze. There's a thread in members only about 80-90 members only camping nearby to Bingley Hall.
