Hi there,
My name is Scott and we (Myself and Sarah) have just bought a rather lovely T25 1988 (our first campervan).
She (Clara) arrived a week before our first newborn (Ben - who came a few weeks early) so have not had a chance to do an overnighter.
The question is, as we are itching to get away as a family, does anyone know of any baby friendly spots in North Yorkshire so that we get to dip our toes into the 80-90 experience!!??
Looking forward to your replies, or just come and say hello!
Scott

welcome to the club!

spots in north yorkshire include the vale of pickering campsite in allerston, bainbridge ings in hawes and various sleepy spots on or around the coast!

i'm guessing you are after a site with electric etc, pickering is a reallly good one!

so tell us more about your van!

Hey DiscoDave,
Thanks for the advice - Pickering sounds good as its right next to Dalby for a bit of mountain biking too! (plus its got all the electrical hook ups etc etc!!)
The van is called Clara she is a 1988 4 speed manual Transporter Hi-Top. Check out the photos in the garage as we recently added them over there in a fit of excitement last night.
She is great fun to drive and also to just park up in and chill out in the back. Looking forward to our first overnight excursion greatly though - need to get a 3 point seat belt for Ben to be strapped safely in the back first.
Cheers,
Scott

Hiya and welcome. Really nice site at Hinderwell at the top of Runswick Bay opposite the Badger Hounds pub called the Serenity. The couple who run it can be a bit odd, but it's a lovely quiet site with all the facilities you'd need and as long as you don't play ball games on the site or leave stray tent pegs in the grass you'll be OK!

(I said they were funny - we used to joke that we'd be in trouble if we enjoyed ourselves, but it really is a lovely site, as Disco would confirm!)

Cheers Carolyn,
We camped (pre camper - with a tent) at a lovely campsite at Gordale Scar near Malham, last year - it had a really odd caretaker, who could be seen hiding behind the wall spying on everyone to make sure they were behaving, and also had a strange fetish for the collection of used disposable bbq's!! Was a great campsite though - not sure if they would allow campervans but may need to check into.
Looks like we are going to have to do a fair bit of exploring anyway - which is what its all about really I guess!

I know exactly the spot you mean; yes, he does allow vans, we stayed there last October. Electric hook up is available too, but i would guess it's only a limited amount.
Know what you mean about the bbq's too...strange chap

We ve just stayed in the Malham place - Great views - will post a picture tomoz - it is a bit local though! - the disposable bbq are still there - it makes Steptoes Yard look like Ikea.

Also stayed in Stainforth Hall which is a bit less League of Gentlemen - its right next to the Ribble which you can have a swim in if you fancy. Beware though if you come from the Stainforth village side there is a very tight squeeze over a bridge - we got ours though but its was close and there's always an audience and you know that they are wellwishers!
There is also a pub 5 mins away.

Hello!

Always really enjoyed it at Rosedale Abbey, not the cheapest but loads of space and excellent facilities.

Enjoy!

Been to Rosedale Abbey 3 years on the run, one of my fave sites - plus the White Horse Farm Hotel is fantastic, a couple of minutes walk up Chimney Bank.
