A/C STILL CUTTING OUT

I drove my van to work this morning, all of 2 miles !
Got to work put the van in reverse and the revs wouldn't build. It coughed, spluttered, backfired a little and cut out and now it wont restart.
Recently I've replaced plugs, leads, cap, rotor, coil, ignition amplifier. Am I barking up the wrong tree?

Previously I had some cutting out problems but with no particular symptoms, just total loss as if something had overheated. Gave it 15 mins and it would restart no problem, and run as normal which is what lead me to believe it was electrical.

Now I'm thinking fuel. Does it sound like it could be fuel pump?

Any help or advice would be great.
Thanks
Stuart

Bugger - still being norty!

2 whole miles??? I would be hitting it with the branch by now!!!

Anyway...have you checked the fuel lines front to rear...is the filter clogged? Checked the pump (onthe water cooled we can just take the fuel line off the carb,,,,as you crank it , fuel comes out, ergo the pump works)

I have also heard tell of a magnet on the bottom of the fuel tank - collects any rusty bits in the tank and stops the outlet on the tank getting bunged up.

Has the cutout solenoid (or whatever it is called on the carb) come loose? At one point, mine was held in place with an elastic band.....don't ask....but it got me home.

Any major vacuum leaks....

coleection of muck in the carb jets.....don't ask em how you clean 'em though!!

Must go do some work now,
Em

I've checked all those things.
I've just been outside and tried to start it and it fired first time. I'm so confused now and getting to my wits end!!!!

just a thought....is the ISU still connected....that little black box that has two leads underneath going into it....can run quite happily without it....just unplug the leads and connect to each other.

Dunno if it will help at all.
