Hi can anyone tell me what will cause a flashing oil light? its a constant on off on off... as opposed to flashing as too little oil is being slushed around
how dangerous is it... is it a case of step away from the van and call a van doctor... or can i put it to the top of my to do list and get round to it when i dont need the van for work??
cheers

if its blinking proper then its probably got real low pressure, not good, but have a look at this
http://www.benplace.com/oil_pressure_sender.htm explains the sensors and there problems

i dont know if this is any help but we have a 1983 t25 diesel, and had a problem that once the oil light had finished its usual pre start up oil flash it came on again flashing fast, turned out it was to indicate low water in the coolant system. if that is your problem make sure its bled properly or the problem will continue with over heating etc

thinking about it oil light should be on continuously shouldn't it. possibly a loose connection. check your earth seems to be a good starting point, not sure about the diesel but the 2.1 has some earths that go from the engine to the body and there is also an earth from the gearbox to the chassis

thinking about it oil light should be on continuously (solid) if it is true low oil pressure. possibly a loose connection. check your earth seems to be a good starting point, not sure about the diesel but the 2.1 has some earths that go from the engine to the body and there is also an earth from the gearbox to the chassis

Oil light sorted...was a loose connetion / bodged wireing

thanks for the tips....
Also managed to sort the problem the grage left with the water temp light flashing too..... the sensor that they said didnt fit, miraculously went straight into place when i got under my van... after sorting the wire that they had managed to joint with a flame thrower!!
lesson learnt... if you can get your van into the garage in less than 3 weeks dont do it!!! better to wait for the true professional.
