Electric Windows - Help

Finally got round to taking the door panels off today to sort out the electric windows which haven't worked since I got the van. Now it's warmer (just!) I need some fresh air in the front of the van .
Managed to use the test meter to confirm that 12v is supplied to the motor connector when you press the switch so presumably the motor's bust/seized/reluctant. I only tested the drivers side but presumably the passenger side has the same problem.
The other thing I found is that I think the bottom bracket for the window slider has corroded (at least I took a bolt out and this rusty bit of metal fell out!).
So, what do I do? The Haynes says I need to cut the 'regulator cables' to get the motor and mechanism out. However, it fails to tell me what the regulator cables are!
If I fix the motor, will it be OK if the bottom bracket is bust?
Is it possible to fix manual winders instead?
Where's the best place to buy motors, manual winders, new sliders?
Is there another techy weekend planned so someone can help me?

I haven't got time to go to work :)

Well because the windows (should) go up AND down the supply to the motor has to reverse at some point.

The circuit diagram at this link might help.

though it doesnt show the reversing action of the switch very well.
Remember the motors take a fair current so need good earths and clean contacts.
It might be worth running a test +ve and -ve supply.
