Heyup, ive got to fit new head gasket, anyone know how to find out the correct gasket to get....i know it has to be measured but can i do this myself or do i need any special tools? Is it vital or can i put any thickness on there....?
Obviously i dont want to mess it up! Any tips or things to watch out for would be appreciated.
Cheers

Have you looked at the old gasket as there are notches or holes .Which start from a 1 or 2 or 3 notch or holes to tell you the right thickness. To determine the gasket thickness the piston projection at tdc is measured .Some just fit a 3 hole for safety .

ok thanks...will have a look at old one. Its quite old at least 10 years so i thought possible things might have changed a bit since it was fitted but good point..

You will need to time the cam properly. The kits aren't expensive, but I'd certainly use one.
Basically. There is a TDC mark on the flywheel a hole in the injector pump and a slot in the end of the cam.
The cam wheel is on a taper so you fix the cam into position and adjust on the others..
Use new head bolts.
