They are to stop heat soak from the cylinder head boiling the fuel in the carbs and causing hot start problems.

Hi Steve
Do these fit between carb and manifold? I need to check mine as I dont think I have them on mine and that may explain the difficulty I sometimes have starting when hot as I presume the added heat may result in fuel evaporation. Or perhaps I'm talking pants !!!

No, no pants, thats exactly what they are supposed to do, provide a little heat insulation between the manifold and carb. I'll hasve a scout around and see if I can find anymore, if not I could always manufacture them.
