Consumer unit wiring - help!!

Hi - I have a consumer unit which I took out of the van a month or so ago and foolishly did not make a note of how it was wired up.
I searched the forum for wiring diagrams / similar problems and could not find anything (also 'Googled' it to no avail).
I'm sure there is something out there on this but wondered if someone could point me in the right direction?
Basically what I need to know is:-
1) What type / grade of wire I need to run from the hookup socket to the consumer unit? (I have seen a lot of people with the orange coated cable - is this designed specifically for outdoor use / is it 3 core / any idea of suppliers?)
2) When wiring the consumer unit from the hook up feed, there is a brass block with 6 terminals marked with the 'earth' sign. Should I wire the incoming earth to this block and then run a separate wire from one of the other terminals to an earth on the body?
3)Does anyone have a wiring diagram or pictures of how the consumer unit is wired up to 3 pin sockets, etc?
Thanks in advance for your help...
Chris
