you need to check the fuse, the fuse holder, and the switch are not melted, and if all ok, keep the fan switched off, or better still disconnect the switch completely, check for melted insulation on the fan wires too, and you should be ok.
Its a dash out job to replace the fan motor, or heater box, depending on which model heater box itis...
