Replacement Engine

Just got my van back from Elite VW in Essex after having a replacement engine fitted (2.0 A/C). Must say I was most impressed, they have sorted my van out and fixed the dizzy and carbs among other things.

They had some trouble getting parts which took some time but it was worth the wait.

Price was good too but it has gone up a bit from the price on the website for them. £950 for engine and fitting.

They even picked me up from the station.

Will keep you posted on how I get on.

Hiya java,

You can quite easily get 2.0 litre Aircooled parts from the VW Classic Parts Center in Wolfsburg. You will however need the ETKA CD for the part numbers and they are not cheap, but as I found out it's actually worth buying genuine parts rather than cheap crap (eg. GSF oil seals).

I think if I remember rightly the ordering process may be somewhere within the Wiki.

The dizzy however as far as I remember is no longer available as a replacement part and as for the carburettors it's usually best to have them professionally rebuilt. I got Gower & Lee in Bushey Heath (near Watford) to do my Solex 34 Pict-3 and Solex 28 Pict-2 for my 1300 Beetle and came back like new.

I hope this helps.
