Upholstery cleaning

The interior of our van is slightly manky - needs a good cleaning esp the carpet-like material on the roof.

I've been trying to use this carpet-cleaning/stain removal can of foam - but it's taking ages. And while brightening up the carpet-like material, it's doing nothing to remove the little black spots (of gawd-knows what)

Any suggestions of what we can do? I'm considering a carpet cleaner but not sure whether it'll work upside down on the roof??

thanks, advice appreciated :)

The black spots is probably mildew, caused by condensation forming and feeding the fungus.

A solution of Milton Fluid mixed 10% with warm water and sponged on works on mildew, see the info on pop-top cleaning, it`s been discussed in there this week.

Used the same steam cleaner as i did the roof with; had some quite bad greasy stains on the rear seat which are 95% gone.

I am happy with the result and had decided that I would not resort to chemicals that may discolour/damage your fabrics unless steam alone did not work.
