Looking at getting a T25 high top 4 berth and need to fit extra lap belts in the rear on purchase for smaller members of the family. Cant find any particular pre-formed fixing points so is it okay to have them "manufactured" with additional strengthening of the floor pan? Also, does anyone have any experience of the best suppliers of the belt kits? Ideally I would like 3 point belts in the rear, but due tot he configuration of the van can't get to the pillars etc to install.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Would also help to know what conversion you have!

JK sell spreader plates for seatbelt mounting, however they are a tad expenive at £8 a pair! if you google you'll find em for about £1 each

Lapbelts are ok for some baby seats, but I would seriously recomend that you look into 3 point belts before the little 'un gets much bigger. Wether you do it yourself or pay to get it done. Tho I did initially have lap belts in our TD, I really wasn't happy driving with our kids until I'd change over to 3 point's.

You can get extra long van seatbelts from JK, which reach all the way back to mounting points - either factoy ones or using spreader plates - behind the rear window. Might be able to source those cheaper as well. I went with theirs cos I knew they would be long enough.

Thanks for the info.

Spent some time trolling the other ?'s on the subject and have decided to get the extra long belt kits and fit via a local mechnic who I trust and can discuss with.

The van is a converted panel van with no rear side windows, but has units on the LHS and the 3/4 R&R bed. Hopefully I can get the long belt fitted behind where the rear side window would be to cover the RHS and then do an "up and over" the seat from the underneath storage to give me a second 3-point belt on the bench.

Am I right thinking that the fixing points will need to be made rather than already be there?

Yes, on a converted panel van, you will need to drill holes and use spreader plates.

I understand that under the new seat belt regulations you cannot use child seats with lap belts they have to be 3 point. We had an A/S hightop which had only lap belts we had to change the van to one with 3 point belts so we could take our grandchildren with us.
