1.9 PETROL WATERCOOLED HESITATION ON ACCELARATION

Looking for some input I have a 1.9 dg water cooled with a pierburg
problem is a flat spot and hesitation on acceleration and stalling pull away.
I have replaced the intake manifold gaskets, put a new carb on , timed and retimed, am just about to replace advance and retard vacuum unit.
any ideas could it be the ecu ?

Is the vac advance leaking? no point in changing good parts willy nilly...
If you suck on the vac advance unit, it should hold vacuum.. if it dont its broke..
if its ok then accel pump could be at fault.. but normally this will be leaking petrol to the outside world...

Having replaced those parts and still not solved the problem, it could be your ignition coil breaking up. Gives poor power under accelleration and pulling away. Check ignition leads as well.
Apart from that, I would have thought it was the accellerator pump as well. Could need adjusting as every engine has different needs and just putting a new carb on may not be enough to solve the problem.

you say you have timed then retimed, does that mean that you are not sure you timed correctly the first time? does that mean it could be badly timed too the second time? it does need to be idling to time it with the idle control unit disconnected doesn it? mine says TDC on idle, it does not run at all if timed like that so I need to advance mine a tiny bit.. although mine is a DF and not a DG.

does yours run fine without the idle control unit connected?

sounding like set up and timing to me .........
you did take the vac pipes off when you timed it didnt you?
