Advise needed 1.6d to 1.9d 1Y engine

If I ever get my Van back from the paint shop I will be changing my 1.6d to a 1.9d 1Y engine.
A couple of questions.
Do I need to change the oil pump over? The 1Y has a very good pump at the moment well within tolerance. Can I get away with just changing the Oil Pick up over? Or modification if thats not possible? - Cut and shut job.
The Sump Gasket - Do I but one with or without the integral Baffle? My 1Y has the baffle GSF say they come with & without.
Do I need to change the water pump over?
If I do change water pump will I still be able to use the new style multi Groove fan belt rather then the two stage V belt used in the old 1.6.
I hope my 1.6d Flywheel will fit the 1.9 1Y engine as the new motor came with a flywheel. Any thoughts on that? weights etc?
Anything else you guys can think of I should know?

eyup duck,i asked all the same questions AND MORE! when i did marladys conversion in 2006,couldnt have dont it without all on here.....i did change the oil pump over cant remember exactly why but was told to,wish ide really shelled out for a new one ,but i was skint at the time, dont really remember doin the sump gasket, but was advised not to fit the sump till the engine was in and bolted up,due to the 1.6 sump being aluminium and the gearbox fits to it,tighten the gearbox bolts first, then you can tighten up the sump, otherwise you could split the sump.i believe some of the 1y boys on here run with the toothed belt but i swapped all the 1.6 bits over, waterpump, pulleys, alternator etc,i didnt want the hassle of messing about with wires etc,and the missus was going newquay in it in 4 weeks time so time was of the essence, and yes you do use the 1.6 flywheel with a 1.6 clutch, quite a satisfying conversion, and the missus uses hers every day for work, makes tea at my sons rugby club in it,been newquay, angelsey, conway, never had any problems........you may have to change your gearbox tho,i found that my van would only do about 40-45 without screaming its knackers off, just swapped for a dirrerent ratio'd box...BUT THATS A DIFFERENT THREAD!....good luck owduck

I am hoping not to have to swap the oil pump over for financial reasons. my 1Y pump is excellent, the 1.6d pump is not. Yes leaving the sump lose prior to bolting up to the gearbox is obvious now you say it ! A nip here and a nip there to bring them up together makes good sence. Thanks for that.
My 1.6d will currently pull 70 without reving to hard (56mph showing on speedo is rev limiter in 3rd) I recon she would do 90 before she topped out as it is. Completly standard van.

I'd keep the 1.6 then if i were you. Thats amazing.
Re 1Y..
Im not sure about the oil pump - if it fits in the sump thats one thing. If you can turn the filter around so its pointing directly downwards (to compensate for the engine being tilted) then i see no reason why not.
I fitted the gasket with the baffle - i have no idea what difference it makes.
I've never had a problem with the sump - and i wouldnt like to get to it when its fitted - i think a long 6mm allen key is in order (or torx depending on what bolts you have) to even attempt getting at the ones behind the flywheel. Obviously it can be done!
Be sure to use the flywheel off the 1.6d as your starter motor is mated to that.
I only kept the 1Y related ancillaries relating to the grooved belt - this means using the alternator off the 1Y and the water pump (makes the change easier too!). All the rest of the bits apart from the block and head, came off my original engine.
do some searches on here - there is loads of info...

Its not quite that amazing. the current 1.6d will pull 70 on the flat. It will also only pull 45 on the flat. You know those flat roads you cannot decide if they are flat or not. My van has great eyesight, if it can see a hill in the distance it gets scared easily. Its terrified of Brent Knull. I have pulled 80 down hill with the wind behind me and chickened out at that. But I am confident she would hold on till 90.
I will bolt up the sump on a face plate prior to fitting then.

Will be glad to get the sump off. As I dropped my Torx drive key down the oil return hole when doing my cylinder head last year. Was a perfect fit. Its in the sump still.

theres crap loads of threads on here owduck about the 1y....arv asked most ovum!,i wish i had the luxury of trying the 1.6 in marladys, when we got ours the nugget was in a hovis bread crate in the back of the van,in about a 1000 pieces, that was fun with a capital "F"
