Hi, Im trying to get some help with sorting out my indicators.
this is what happens.
With just indicators on they work fine but the indicator and lights alternatly flash on the dashboard.
With the lights switched on both the external lights and indicators flash on and off. And the lights on the dash still flash ut a little bit faster.
I have tried cleaning all the fuses as i am not sure hwich is the right one.
I have also taken the cover of the dash and removed and wiped the big white plug that plugs into the dash.
I am unsure what to do next please help as the mot is due and i really want to get off and do some camping.
Thanks

I had a problem with the lights & indicators, check the crown earth, you'll find it behind the glove box near the fuses. gave the connections a clean & all's been well since.
Ned.
Hope this may help.

Thanks for that. Its a LHD van so all my fuses are under the steering console.
i will have a go at cleaning all the terminals but i am not sure what the crown earth is
Maybe i would be better taking it to an auto electricians but im a bit skint and they are very expensive

Thanks for the picture its really clear. I will make sure they are all nice and clean.
My fuse box has the bullet fuses in and aren't very clean i took them out one by one and gave them a wipe though. I thought that it would be a case of they either worked or did not work i didnt realize that there would be an inbetween! should i clan then with something a bit more abrasive?
It has also been suggested that i look at the connections on the back of the indicators and headlights? What do you think of this as i dont really want to take grill off unnecassarily as its a bit knackered

joker1981,
These are the connections that you should check and clean. What IIRC happens is that the electrickery finds the wrong way to earth through circuits it shouldn't, if all these are not clean to provide the correct route.
No harm in cleaning the fuses but these (the crown earths) are the number one suspects.

Wouldn't bother with the indicators if they start working properly again once the other bits have been done, but the headlamps could be worth a go especally if they are a bit dim - if corosion is robbing you of the odd 0.5volt here and there it'll make them much dimmer. If your satisfied with your headlamps though I'd leave them be, they should get better once the earth crown has been done anyway. Its a job thats been on my to do list aswell but I can't be bothered to take the grill off yet again just yet, wait for another electrical gremlin up that end, shouldn't be long

I have got another suggestion as well. It may be the case that at some point in the past the wrong indicator relay was fitted (my one had an emergency vehicle indicator relay fitted to it which made the indicators go twice as fast as they were on hazzard lights).
The correct indicator relay for all non-emergency vehicle type 2 T3s (aka model "T25") are the same as a standard 12V Beetle (type 1) indicator relay.

also check that the main earth for the dash is good, on a rhd it is down near the heater on the drivers side, not sure where on a wrong hand drive, but its a biggish brown wire bolted to the cab, just near where the heater blows warm
