Oil cleaner removal ???

Can anyone help??
My camper 1.6td at some point as been fitted with an oil cleaner (chrome item in photo 1) the problem I have is getting a replacement filter element, so I think the best option is to remove it specially as it's an add on.
My question is can I just remove the two pipes (supply & return) see photo 2, it looks like the supply pipe is between the filter housing and the pressure switch and the return goes to a plate in the block which I guess is where the dip stick goes when the engine is fitted into a car ??????
Can anyone let me know if it's safe just to remove these two pipe? I take it the pressure switch normally screws into the filter housing and where the return hose is it's normally just blanked off????
Would be gratefully for any info / photo's
