Im in the process of converting my petrol van to diesel and `i've got to the firing it up stage now. I've been priming the pump by sucking fuel through the diesel return line. When i put the return line back on the pump the fuel runs back down the lines into the tank. When I changed the old fuel lines for the nylon diesel type I removed a one way valve in the petrol return line. should I have retained this valve in the diesel lines so the fuel doesnt run back into the tank?

The little black and white one way valve is an excellent anti run back device. I use them for worn pumps etc. Where cold start becomes a nightmare.

Laurie,
Which little valve are you talking about?
Do you have a part number?
Is it diesel resistantß

They were fitted to the CT fuel system and (I think) the DF engines.
Probably started with 070 121 in the part number. If something is petrol resistant, it is diesel resistant.
Also available from good diesel specialists in other makes.
