as well as fuelling the engine, can the fridge and a heater all be supplied by the same tank (plus a small spare perhaps so you don't end up stranded cos you left the heater on all night ) ? would this save much space or money ?

the answer to your question is YES.
but its not quite that simple, the engine requires liquid gas, the domestics require gas vapour, so the tank has to have two outlets, and jiggerypokery...... which makes the tank baulky........which is why i have a seperate domestic tank, and road fuel tanks......... still fill them with the same stuff tho..........

Have had Steve do just that on ours. We have 10kg of Propane to power the heating/fridge and cooker - filled every time we fill up the vehicle fuel tank.
Gives you a cupbaord back too. Works like a dream and no probs with Butane in the cold....

The only downside could be on the Western Isles next month - there is only one LPG filling station right at the north end of Lewis - we are travelling SOuth to North - if we run out of Leisure gas - we will have to break out the barbeque and wooly jumpers.....till we can fill up with LPG again.

so you have a single LPG tank underneath the van somewhere which fuels the engine and all the appliances? ...or is it a separate tank for the engine? if so do you have both tanks next to each other? I have been reading something on here about having the tank in the wardrobe, I think I would miss the space...

We have a 55 litre torroidal tank in the wardrobe (which we never use(d) anyway) - this provides vehicle fuel. (approx 200 miles).

We also have a 10kg (10 litre?) tank slung under where the fridge is. This is plumbed into the manifold where the old gas bottles used to supply - leading to Fridge/Cooker/Heater.

This leisure tank is in series with the vehicle tank - we have only one filler - that is for vehicle fuel - this overfills into the leisure tank meaning you always have a full leisure tank everytime you fill up (the vehilce tank)at the pump.

The wardrobe space isn't missed (and the top half is still usable) and you gain the space (a whole cupboard in our case ) where the gas bottles used to be.

Propane cost is much cheaper than campinggaz bottles and you don't have to worry where you are going to find that 907 size bottle....

that little on board tank will run the cooker and the propex for weeks and weeks between fills. I have an isolator on the fill side for mine and last year I only filled it twice.
