Moped rack

I want to carry a moped on my T25. I have just fitted a tow bar and notice there are two square tubes mounted vertically. What are these actually for? Are they part of a cycle rack mounting? I am thinking of welding a couple of more substantial ones to form a platform affair to carry my moped.
any ideas?

Ain't been to the pictures for ages!!!!!
TBH I have parked the van a*** up to a fence and can't get behind to get a pic. And I have the wheels off to fit my new tyres so can't move it. I thought the description would be a bit obvious, but obviously not. I'll try to post a pic soon.
Bless you my son!

OK, so what are the square tubes for? Can I mount a moped rack on them? I can weld so can I fabricate something?
Thanks in advance.

They look like the mounts for a push-bike rack, not substantial enough for a scooter.

Watch the weight you plan to hang off the back of your `van, there are legal limits that apply to towbars etc. and also rear axle loads. My Westfalia towbar has a label with 100kg limit on it, which seems to be the norm for factory fitted and approved towbars, Mocki on here says his aftermarket towbar is rated at 200KG.

Have a search, this was all talked over a few weeks back :)

yes westie is right a scoot would snap those welds or bend the tubes at the first bump.

is the towball detachable? called a 'flange' type

if it is then you could fit one of these

The key words here are "more substantial ones". I was going to replace those tubes! As for weight at back end, What does a moped weigh?
I really appreciate you all taking the trouble to advise me, thanks!

Is that with or without the fuel in the tank, and my sarnies in the back box?
Joking!!!!
So, it should be OK on the towbar, provided the fittings are up to the job! Hope my welding memory can take it!

Dave Cooper bikeracks does a nice scooter rack for the back end, fits to a standard towball as usual. Takes 100KG weight. Nicely made item as well, alloy channel section and ramp with steel tube reinforcing the right bits so it`s not stoopid heavy.

Check your towbar weight limit. Mine is 100KG according to the plate on it (Westfalia towbar) and the scooter I`ve got weighs 85kg so its about on the limit.
