help with tyre size choice

ive got a 1990 t25 1.9 dg petrol with a 5 speed gear box.i want to fit some 17 inch alloys i have with a 42et and a 112 pcd. here comes the big help list... what size tyres would be best 235 or 215 55 17 and 98 for waight for lower engine rpm at motorway speeds and what size spacers would be best to avoid playing with the rear door hindge and with out effecting the speedo read out much PLEASE HELP SOMEONE AND POINT ME IN THE RIGHT WAY !!!

What width are the rims first of all? That will give you you`re ideal tyre width, eg, 7" (7J rim) will take 215, maybe 225.
Et needs to be around 35 mm ish, so spacers to suit that, then think about longer rear studds and a front stud conversion kit, and locking wheel nutz :)

225/50 X 17 would be the closest to the original circumference.

and 5mm spacer all-round

go HERE for the tyre finder.

punch in my size and see what comes up...you want a "H" rated...95 and above for the load index

come down an inch and they get a lot cheaper

thanks for the help the wheels are 7.5 wide ive been offered a pair of 225 55 17 goodyear f1 extra load im going to give the a try just got to sort some rear studs and 4 spacers out now thanks a lot everyone
