I wonder who will the first to put the new 2.2 turbo diesel boxer into a T25. With the torque that engine kicks out, it should a fun frugal conversion....

Oops!

Not very well, like a snail, but have most bits...

In defence, have no garage and lots of other priorities, daily life being one

But, things should now start moving on this year, looking fwd to a bit of a work sabbatical, or should say 'hoping' for one.

I thought I was getting there. Sussed out the all the breather pipes, but then found that the air in take pipe into the throttle body fouls the of the rear engine bay. I thought this was meant to fit using the origional legacy part? (Early EJ22) Any body any ideas what others are using?
Thanks,
Mike.

for the air intake i used the original one from the legacy and carefully trimed/ cut it up till it fitted!!! take it from your pics you used the reversed coolant pipes and where you get the acc. cable from, i made my own one of those too!!

Yep reversed coolant manifold.
The throttle cable came from RJES as part of a kit with all brackets and fittings needed. Fitted straight on with no probs.

Mike i have ordered my air intake body from Kennedy. They make one that fits straight on. I paid about £26 inc postage. I am still collecting all the parts but getting close though. I am using a mix of parts from RJES, smallcar, KEP and H&R.
Keep us all updated guys and share those little problems.

Mike what engine mount did you use?

Posted: 14 Apr 2008, 20:24
by CycloneMike
It's a small car mount which fits to the VW engine cross bar using vw engine rubbers. When used with the RJES bell housing, new mounting holes had to be drilled in the van as the cross bar sits slightly further back/ forward I can't remember which way now. Apart from the drilling all just bolted together and staight back into the van.

My ej22 has done 40,000 + miles using rjes bellhousing, smallcar mounts and headers. I Love it !

What an awesome engine. I was looking at doing one of them but decided 125bhp should really be enough and the cost was a little steep for me.
I now have all the parts for mine, I am using the RJES fitting kit with Smallcar manifold and exhaust, Stainless pipework and silicone hoses. I think i have gathered the best bits from all of the companies.
If anyone is doing the later single port engine conversion give me a shout as i bought the wrong manifold by mistake.
I'm really just wanting to get mine done now, so does the wife as i have a huge pile of boxes in the lounge.

got mine running for the first time yesterday!! sounded awsome, will get some pics up at some point. Could only run her for 30 secs or so cos there is no water cooling and I dont want my new baby to overheat!
