I've been having a nose around again, and have found that this needs replacing:

What is it called please? I've looked on the diagrams on here and probably being blind but can't find it:

Engine is a 2 litre Aircooled.

The part takes heat from the back of the heat exchanger, takes it up through the tinware and then into the air intake on the engine. I've also looked in my Haynes and can't find a name for it.

The bit at the bottom that is really corroded fixes to the engine just behind the fuel pump.

Sorry to be a pain yet again, but it is obviously important to have this bit on there I guess.

Looks like the tinware that takes heat from the cylinder to get hot air to the carbs .

It's called "warm air duct" in some descriptions I've seen.
It's part 32 in the tinware diagram on the wiki.
It's notorious for rusting away in the way yours has.
It's not that critical if you can't get one - my understanding is that it is to supply the carbs with warm air in particularly cold conditions - as in well sub zero.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Think I may have sourced one now. Just waiting for confirmation from the guy.
