how do I prime fuel pump (1.6TD)

I've had my injector pipes off to replace the glow plugs (handy having long skinny fingers).

Now it won't start. Because there's air in the system I've been told to crack a couple of the pipes open and keep turning it over to pull the fuel through. I did that last night until the battery drained flat and I couldn't see any fuel in the fuel line, let alone being pumped out of the injector pipes.

The battery is on charge for tonight. Any ideas about how to get some fuel through? I really don't want to suck it and get a mouthful.
cheers

A good slow suck works for me.
I extend the end of the diesel line with some pipe that I know is clean.

With a slow approach you can see the diesel coming up the line.

It does take time and if you suck too hard you get swirly things in front of your eyes and your shreddies disappear (commonly known as "taking in washing").

Undo/loosen the banjo on the fuel pump for the return line.

This makes things a lot easier for the fuel pump to prime.

Dont be standing too far away either, cause when the engine starts it will really p%ss out everywhere.

thanks

Had same trouble myself, went down the local motor shop and got a peugeot diesal primer (£8) and NRV thingy, looks like a big old fashioned perfume bottle squeezy thing. Put it in line just in front of the fuel filter, squeezed it repeatedly till it went hard (ooeer missus) tadaaa ! fuel is primed and NRV ensures it allways will be. Smugness levels back to normal.
