clock to tacho swap

i've managed to get hold of a tacho and pcb ribbon from a petrol revcounter dash.

is it just a matter of swapping the clock out for the tacho and changing the pcb's over or is it a bit more complicated?

will i need to re-wire the 14 pin plug or is that only for pre '84?

i have an '89 petrol bus so the wires should be there for the revcounter... i think...

cheers!

Our '89 was plug & play ... I swapped the whole pod though.

cool! all done and working!
unfortunately on my test run the bloody buzzer of doom came on though :?
as i never had this problem before i switched the pcb/tacho over i think it's probably a bad connection between the loom plug and PCB ribbon (fingers crossed!!)

does that sound like a safe assumption?
