Useful advice on pushrod tube seals, etc. (avoid cheap ones)

Hi everyone,

Just to let you all know that my GSF pushrod tube seals had failed after only 5,000 miles (just over a year). One of them had badly cracked as well. I have also had bad experiences with other pattern part oil seals as well.

If anyone would like to get genuine seals or parts (that are hard to get hold of) there is the VW Classic Parts Centre (http://www.vw-classicparts.de) in Wolfsburg. You will need to have a copy of ETKA (so that you can enter the part numbers you would like) and the website its self is only in german.

To order parts from them, you will need to do the following:-

- Click on Verfügbarkeitsabfrage under Sortiment. A new window will now open automatically.

- Click on Zugang ohne vorherige Registrierung near the top of the page

- Under Teilnummer type in the VAG part number of the part you would like to get hold of and press Enter

- You will now see a table further down the page. Type in the quantity of parts you would like in the Menge column.

- Click on Positionen ubernehmen

When you have finished your shopping list of parts, click on the Warenkorb bearbeiten button. Now click on the Anfrage fertigstellen! button. It should now take you to a contact form where you will need to fill in your details. Click on the Abschicken button and you will then get an auto-generated email from them telling you that your enquiry will be dealt with.

VW Classic Parts will then email a PDF qoute (angebot) back and you will then need to email them back with your card details, etc. The part(s) should then arrive after about a week.

Thanks for that I'll put it on the wiki, Were you aware that pushrod tubes are still available direct from vw in the uk for £12+vat? (need to go to a commercial van centre)
