Im sticking another 1Y next weekend.

Im wondering if its worth changing the oil pump.

However, from memory, i cant seem to remember that there is much to go wrong with these things as they are solid mechanics ?

Am i correct?

could this be why my last engine only lasted 20,000 miles of me driving it ?

Thanks

Ringo

I had the same situation with regards to shall i replace the oil pump.I removed the oil pump from the 1Y with 70.000 miles on it.I noticed the shaft had a lot of wear on its end.The 1.6td engine of which i replaced for a 1Y oil presure light went off quickly after start up.I took the pump off it and noticed hardly any wear on the shaft end i measured using feeler gauges between the teeth and it was well within limits. So i used it.For safety i would advice buying a new oil pump if there is wear.

They are only about £40 with your 80 90 discount at GSF, why take a chance. And I would also like to know how many miles your 1y had on it before you broke it?
