Hi all,
have replaced oil-seal around gearbox output flange - but still leaking!
Any ideas about what to do next? Would new flange help - existing one loose on splines (pulled off by hand)??

Thanks in advance for replies.
Cherers.

There should have been a bung in the end of the flange to stop the leak through the splins.

Ah, yes - replaced that too with new part fron VW. Should I have used any sealant on this, or just a press fit? If splines loose then I guess this would let more oil through so sealing this cap could be more of an issue than normal???

I just popped mine back in no sealant. Seems likley the only place it could leak I guess so yep seal her up.

interference fit, a smear of silicon if you want to belt and brace it, but not much as you need to leave room for cv joint to move around in there.

Is there much play in the otput flange itself? Bearings! Wouldn't help matters if lots of whirling going on..

Also, if CVJ badly worn this would also rattle the whole thing around a lot. And then, what was the flange seal surface like, grooved?
