I'm going to be changing my fuel pump on my JX TD. Is there any information anywhere on removal / replacement? I want to make sure I dont f***-up the timing.

I have removed the cam belt cover and can see the obvious hole in the pump wheel that lines up with a hole in the case. I have lined all up and a small notch lines up with an indicator on the case towards the top, does this sound ok so far??

The next part is what i need help on. Do i release tension from the cam belt, undo the pump wheel and remove followed by the pump, then simply bolt up the new pump, line up the holes/ timing marks and tighten up??

If I were you I would go right back to the basics with it
Cam at TDC and put a bar accross the rear channel so it is locked off, if the channel doesnt line up turn it over again, its off set.
Fly wheel on the timing notch, re mark it with white paint while your at it.
Mark your cam belt with white paint, one marking the cam belt postion on the cam drive and two marks on the diesel pump.
When you come to re assemble its a lot easier
This way if like me you have a problem later you know that it was all set and working which eliminates the process of trying to work out what the F**k has gone wrong.
My case is that the diesel injector pump has FAILED!

The pullys will be aligned by locking the cam in position with the flywheel at TDC and the pump pully lined up with the hole in the back plate, but the timing will/may be out.

You adjust the timing of the pump by undoing 3 bolts which secure the pump to engine, you are actually removing the pump so unless you are very lucky the timing will be out when fitting the new pump.

The new pump should be set-up using a DTI and set-up for approx 1mm lift @ TDC. the task of doing the timing is quite easy but you will need the correct tools.
