After reading about alternative fuels here, i ended up really confused!
I have a '90 TD engine, and i'm pondering about alternative fuels.

What is the cheapest, easiest (DIY), most efficient, most reliable, most env friendly, etc, etc alternative fuel conversion?

Thanks!

David

They will run on lots of things, the question is how long they will run. Bosch and vw designed them to run on diesel and nothing else.

Diesels can only partly run on lpg

My TD van was a 1.9DF with JUST lpg, yes it was cheap on fuel but so slow. Now i have tripple, yes tripple the power and it only costs a bit more to run.

Out of interest Andy, I have a 1.6Td and I was wondering what you would use in place of it. I'm more interested in fuel economy than power or 0-60 though a little more power never goes amiss. I've heard a lot about Subaru's and other engines but i'm no mechanic so much of it is over my head until I learn more.
I would like to use SVO/PPO/Veg oil but if you're saying a petrol engine/LPG is in some way better, can you tell me how? Any tips would be be v cool.

many thanks,
