Hi all,
I was recently servicing my new van (my first VW camper) and i found a grey plug and cable coiled up under the air filter. Looks like it had been there unloved and unused for a long time.
It is a 1979 air cooled 2 ltr.
Any ideas what it is and is it of any use???
Cheers.
Stuart.

its the TDC sensor, which has not been used because only those possessing a magic vw tool can plug onto it, and you have to be a "speshul vw person" to have one......or so legent has it!!! :lol

I found one poking round my 1980 1600 AC, I gently pulled a loose wire that kept coming! on the end was an oily three pin plug in a rubber housing, I thought I "I`ve broke it", but after scanning mr Haynes, found out it to be the test thingy from VDub,( but I checked with the mechanics at work any way), teach me for prodding around!!

Thanks. I thought it might be, but with a camper thats nearly 30 years old it could have been a bodge from the past. I will coil it up and leave it there then. Cheers.

finding surprises are fun! I think tho that most may actually be bodge jobs from 20+ years ago.
