My First posting, please be gentle.....

I have a 1985 1.9 diesel(1Y) autohomes hightop
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to swap an old instrument cluster (the one with the vertical pin mounting) for a newer one with the horizontal pin mounting? I have the old one, but it is falling apart and is held together with black tape. The pcb is ok. It is the diesel one with the glow plug warning light.
I have a replacement cluster, but is the newer type and also came from a petrol version (no glow plug light)
please help......
thanks
Gary

you could try the search icon at the top of the page - try - dashboard swap - or similar - and see if the replies are useful for you? :)

You may find that the wiring layout in your loom is different to the pin connections on the back of the clocks. You will need to identify your wires and the check the connections on the 14 pin connector on the rear of the clocks. Find out which one does what.

Thanks for the replies.
Had a quick search but couldn't find anything specific. Off to Exmoor for a few days today so will investigate a bit more on my return

Cheers

I have been told "not compatible" by brickwerks, they definetly are not directly compatible, without altering wires. the-cat on JK tried two vertical ones with no joy, then plugged a horizontal one straight in what bits do you need from the clocks to replace. most are held together with electrical tape as the plastic becomes brittle and falls to pieces.
