I will stick that list on the wiki too :)

Needless to say, if you get any issues post on here or brickyard - there are a lot of ideas floating around...

I was lucky my 1Y came out of a 1996 caddy from aldershot car spares surrey. Its done 70.0000 but i took my time installing no quick sunday morning fit.I replaced the front&back crankshaft seals crankpulley new bolt / timing belt & tensioner spigot bearing oil filter .Used the 1.6td water pump with pulleys to the crank&alternator . Fabricated/welded the 1.6td exhaust down pipe to box to fit the 1Y exhaust manifold and used a 1.6na inlet manifold +airbox. Used the TD oil pump oil cooler hose connection with auxilary pump Running it NA rather than TD as choice to get me back on the road due to turbo worn.

Someone on ebay was selling a golf mot failure they only live about 2 miles from where I get most my work done, I was outbid but the other buyer made no contact so I offered £80 and they agreed as long as I trailered it away asap :)

Ok engine out of the car along with all the other bits I thought might sell on fleabay :) Questions to follow, like do I use my old rocker box cover and why has the block got 1.9 TD stamped on it?

Dont worry about the 1.9/td on the block mine has that on the 1Y .You could turbo it if you wanted.Keep the 1Y rocker cover .

Thanks, I must admit it is all looking fairly straightforward, although I had not thought of the hidden extra cost like £40 to have it trailored a couple of miles :?

my 1Y also has 1.9d/TD on the block, i'm just running the orginal setup ie: non-turbo
