Am just about to strip the inside of my Autohomes Kamper and completely redo the interior. I use the van all year round and sleep in it in some fairly chilly places (woke up last year, to find frost all round the inside of the windows). Also my van is a noisy old bugger, when driving.

So after stripping, repairing any rust and such, I plan to sound proof and insulate everything. I have been trawling the net to find out how best to do this, and there seems to be many different ideas and schools of thought on what materials to use. Have read the very useful article on the Wiki.

It seems to me that probably the best sound proofing material would be Dynapad extreme, expensive, but good. Whilst looking at there web site I read about another of there products, called Dynamat, which is supposed to further sound proof, but also has good insulating properties, whilst being oil, and waterproof. So at the moment I have the idea of using the Dyanamat over the dynapad, on the floor, wheel arches, on-top of engine area etc. Seems to tick all the box's, including the one which makes me bankrupt.

My question is, will I notice the extra benefit, compared to the much greater cost, over using a cheaper alternative such as foil bubble wrap?

Also is it best to seal before or after fitting the Dynapad, or both?

Don't know as to the thermal efficiency etc but make sure whatever you do use doesn't retain moisture.

I certainly claims to be non absorbant, but I'm begining to have my doubts, and am thinking more down the lines of Dynapad covered by thermawrap.

Has anyone tried a product called eDead, it comes in a foam and a liquid paint on form.
