Help in identifying Engine (T25 Whitestar)

Hi,

My first post....Sorry if this is obvious but...

I have a 1990 T25 Whitestar. It has a diesel engine.

I thought it had a JX 1.6TD engine.

But my local mechanic says it has a CY series engine from a Golf or similar.

I can't find an engine code on it anywhere.

I have enclosed a picture of the engine.

Any help as to what you think it is- and where the engine code is would be appreciated.

Cheers

Jake

JR engine from a MK2 1.6 TD golf this engine has hydro tappets. To confirm the engine code. Where the glow plug copper connector loops round the hose to the head cylinder .There is below this on the block a flat area with engine code stamp marks. It may be difficult to read due to dirt&rust.

It looks like a JX.

It has the secondary water pump fitted at the back of the engine bay.

It has a oil filler cap, so either someone swapped the rockerbox or it's another engine.
Injection pump is JX.
