clock

my clock on the dashboard has stopped working. We were trying to ascertain which battery my stereo was running off, so disconnected the main battery. whilst re-connecting there was a big bang, so we must have touched somethign we shouldn't have. Anyway, everything else seems to be working from what i can see, so i'm wondering of we have blown a fuse somewhere for the clock. Does this sound feasible? If so, does anyone know which fuse it could be? Hoping its not knackered.
thanks in advance. (1988 1.9dg if that helps)

kathy,

The gospel according to mr Haynes  says fuse 3 (third from left) should do the clock. It also does the interior lights that work off the door switch(es).
So a quick check may be..... that those lights work when you open the door(s) assuming that all's well with them normally!!

I have checked fuse 3 on my van ('86 2.1DJ) and it does what it says on the tin. :D

If fuse & connections all ok then it may be internal to the clock. Try running a temporary new supply straight to it (via a fuse of course) and if it runs ok for a day or two your problem's with the existing wiring.
