Polyurethane suspension bushes - any opinions?

I'm going to rebuild the front suspension on my Syncro soon. Someone recommended using polyurethane bushes instead of the rubber VW ones. I like the idea, but had a bad experience with similar bushes on a Beetle (which turned out to be due to them being a bad fit, I think).
As I have no intention of doing this job twice, I thought I'd see if anyone has any experience. Do they fit and wear well, and if so what make / where from?
If there is any doubt, I'll be using the ruber ones. Thanks.

Well the OE rubber ones last a long time, but are a pain to fit.. the Poly ones.... no personal experience... but easy to fit..

Fitting some steering rack ones makes a hell of a difference.. (but my power steering sysncro doesnt have flexi mounts as far as I can see so have done them)

I've fitted them to a non-syncro and they are a doddle, steering was sharpened up a bit too.

Thanks for the replies. Anyone had them fitted for a long time - i.e. do they last OK?

Hi Richard, I think Baxter sells them. He may be able to shed some light. Let me know how you get on I may have to do mine soon too.

Two years and still going strong, mine were from Baxter.

Have them fitted to front of my syncro, they have lasted well but that might be down to my careful driving. To me only ones which is a no are shocker bushes, have them on my 2wd are they wear fairly quick. The rack bushes are a huge improvement over vw bushes.

Not had a single set back yet, all sold, non have ever come back.
Only heard positive things back about them.

Rack bushes make a big difference to steering feel.

The red ones on AVO dampers aren't made by Powerflex.

Careful driving...

That's great, thanks. I'm just putting a shopping list together for all the parts I'll need for the front suspension rebuild.

The ones I was particularly interested in in polyurethane are the track control arm bushes and the rack mounts. They're now on my list.
