After my tappet experience it was suggested that I flush the engine with Wynns or similar. Lots of conflicting opinions on line. what's the 80-90 take.
One day i'll answer a question instead of keep asking them - 'till then thanks

Oil flush is ok if used regular from new but its a bad idea to put it in a 20 year old engine that not used it regular.
It is good for improving hydraulic tappets but will wash lots of "pooh" off insides of engine which will end up in the oil pick up gauze which will then restrict oil flow and then tappets will still be noisy.

DOnt use a "flush" as said, you can use a cheaper oil and change it regular, but only worth doing if the oil goes black very quick...
Use a 15w40 as a min, a 15w50 is ideal or a 20w50 is better for a tired engine..
needs to go for a 30 min run too... they wont quieten down by running it at idle for 5 mins.. (actually can make things worse)
Have you checked that the rockers are not loose and that it doesnt have solid lifters in?? it has been known!!! (not from the factory mind!!)
