as funds are tight i recently welded up the exhaust on my bus it all works a treat but now it's not so noisey i can hear a rumble! but only at certain revs

now a bit worried, have had lots of gnarley Aircooled vw's and this sounds the same as main bearing rumble, there is no end float and the oil pressure light doesent flicker even when hot! have kept this van well serviced and it has covered 108000

have booked loads of camping holidays this year

any advise please

when does the rumble , erm, rumble?
when you are under load, like pulling away, going up an incline without changing down?

happens pulling away but also if you just rev the engine,
best way i can describe it is a rumbling sort of vibration coming from the engine that happens at certain revs,
changed the clutch recently spigot bearing looked ok (would this cause a noise) just a bit gutted as it seams to be one thing after another

Could be the water pump bearings, and very simple to eliminate,,,,,,,I only suggest this as I had the same sort of problem with a nice Carat I once owned......

Remove the water pump belt and try reving up then, and see if the noise is still there. This'll eliminate bearings in the water pump and altenator. Just don't run the motor for too long with the belt off.
