Water/Temperature senders.

Hi All. Just wanted to be clear on a couple of points.
I've got a 2.1 DJ 1990 caravelle. Which seems a little flat.
Now are there two Temp senders? One to the dash gauge & one for the engine management? By wiggling wires managed to get the dash one working again. Anyway of checking the management one?
My haynes doesn't make it clear (to me anyhow). And JKampers don't fill with confidence
Anyone know VW part numbers?
Cheers m' dears!

Apart from Haynes 'Sensor test Data' (Page 4B.1 in my book) which reads,
Coolant temperature sensor resistance
At 50 degrees C approx 800 ohms
At 75 degrees C approx 350 ohms
At 100 degrees C approx 200 ohms
Readings which you could get with a multimeter, and a thermometer, (or at least check with engine coolant cold and hot) substitution of a known good sensor (sender) would seem to be the only way, assuming wiring, contacts, etc. are OK.
Can't help with part numbers but no doubt someone will be along who can.

Thanks for taking the time Bob & Grun, but that makes no sense at all to me!
