when i turn my headlights and side lights on they donwork on the front but do on the back and the dash. the main beam light comes on automatically when the side lights and head lights switch is turned on but no lights at the front as i said. i can hear the realays clicking when i turn on the switch

I would start checking the earths! Headlights are earthed to earth point 10 - next to relays. (See Haynes Manual page 12.34) If you have a multimeter, then check voltage at the headlamp too... you'll need to pop the grille off and unscrew the headlamp mounting plate to get access.

Like VWlewis says, check your earths.

The head and (front) side lights are earthed through the cluster of earths near the fuse box.

The tail lamps are on a different earth, in the engine compartment.

thanks fellas i have found a few other weird combinations to like the heater working the wipers etc

i had my temperature gauge doing weird things the other week too so it will be a bad earth i think

just re read the wiki and found this, and it doesn't sound unlike my problem

I have the same problem at the moment and was really puzzled until this thread popped up! The heater comes on via my headlight switch at the moment!

sorted it took less than 3 minutes to fix. i could even see the one that had fured up. you wouldnt think that one loose earth would mess with so much stuff

Great news .. but why did it fur up?!!!! Is water dripping onto it from the bottom of the windscreen?

nahh doubt it, i recon it could be a bit of condensation as we have been camping in the van throughout the winter and the ebber has been on full wack some nights when it has been -7 outside and it was 80 degrees C inside. it did start to platy up when we toured Scotland for nearly 3 weeks starting the day after boxing day this year.

I've noticed on T25 that condensation settles on the bottom of the windscreen - nothing to do with rain, then it drips down to where the earths are.
