the Tristar wheel arch mouldings are different from the 16".

Don't forget that the postal service vans had a differnt type of arch as well. They look like the Syncro 16 arch but are made of ABS instead of urethane. Keeps your trousers clean when you get in and out of the van as they cover the steel front wheel arch.

I had these front pieces replicated in fiberglass when I went to Asia. Haven't done the rears though. Copies were so good they even got the stipple finish front the ABS version. I had these done because the Syncro 16 arches require cutting of your steel arches to fit. Those are intended to enlarge the wheel opening so you can fit larger tyres. The postal arches can be fitted w/o cutting plus it has the cut-out for 2wd fuel filler pipe. Tristar arches on the otherhand appear to have been designed to make make wheel opening smaller (and I suppose) more appealing. they do a better job of hiding the unsightly parts of the suspension.

Anyway, I've been lagging in getting these products back to the US mostly because I am budy with work. Shipping can be a hassle when you are doing a large quantity. Perhaps what you folks need is a decent GRP fabricator to copy these in the UK. The rears wil be a little tricky as they may require molding in 2 sides unless you produce in solid urethane or rubber.

Beware of the copies of Projektzwo wheel arches. Later copies were made by Winkler and others. Those models do not have a proper attaching scheme and extend far beyond ordinary bodywork. First thing you'll notice is your sliding door won't go all the way back w/o modifications.

It's whatever the market will bear, I suppose. Lars (the vendor) is a reasonable fellow. Ask if he'll negotiate the price down.

I was lucky enough to get all 6 pieces for less than that from a friendly VW dealer here in the US. Bought two sets. I also got a good used set of German Ebay for 109 Euros. On another deal I got a front 4-piece set for 100 Euros.

Shop around. When you get tired of looking for the deal of a lifetime, vendors that charge a premium might still have that ellusive set. If that doesn't suit you, make your own like I did.

Ben, Clarification: are you now or do you intend marketing those front fibreglass ones?

I know someone else who is making replicas already.They are fiberglass but to make rubber one would cost far to much.
Not shure weather i am supposed to be telling yet so wont mention names yet.

I only had the fronts made as the rears requires custom fabrication unless you want Syncro 16 types which require some cutting. I think Mike Plompen wants to make them in Europe.

I had some prototypes of the fronts made but haven't been able to get enough time off to work on shipping. My fabricator is in Asia. I might try to do something about getting these finally imported to the US since I have someone here interested in a large quantity. I'm not reallly interested in playing retailer as it would interfere with my real work. I'll keep you posted by pmail within the next 30-45 days.

Better for you guys in the UK if some of your talented people there can just a make molds and sell locally.

was trying to find a link but the ebay auction is out of date, but if I remember correctly a set of new 16" arches went for about €1500.00 not long back, and a used set for one front arch for about €500 arround the same time.

The vendor in question is the same fellow who sold you your 16". You'd better off asking him rather than doing the Ebay deal.

I dont need any mine are fine was just a bit shocked at the price they went for, if I lived in England I'd be thinking of taking them of in case they got nicked
