Before I look at it does it explain how to take out that awful engine and put one in that will actually move a van at a more than geological speed?
Surely that's the only sensible thing to do with the 1.6 or 1.7 Nastily Aspirated engine?

I like square crisps.
I don't like diesels (drove them for too long from an early age).
ergo diesels are not like square crisps.
They're much worse.
Even modern ones. I had to drive an automatic TDI Sharalaxambra around the UK for the last three days. Two words:
London Taxi.

1.6 & 1.7 n/a are crapolla - not saying my 1.9 is a racing machine but I can overtake things (and not just milk floats or bicycles)

Ah poo, you were my only hope.
I overtook something yesterday, granted I think it may have been some kind of blind drivers for charity thing but it was a modern car not just a tractor dontcha know!
Much as it probably makes me a bigger target for scorn I chose my 1.7. I'm almost as scared of the potential mechanical failures of those fangled turbo things as I am of VCs and Diff Locks and the like and I wouldn't know one end of a petrol engine from the other. At least with what I have I have some hope of understanding what's wrong with it. So far it gets me there and it doesn't cost me much, that's all I ever asked.

You blatantly have low expectations, Rob!
I've had a 1.6TD - vs the 2.1 it was slow, even when replaced with an SB with the intercooler fitted.
