2)turn gas on at regulator

Are you seeing any spark when you look through the little spy hole inside the fridge (bottom left had corner)?
Once you've turned the gas on at the regulator, is there another knob / valve somewhere along the pipeline that needs opening as well?
Plenty of gas in your bottle and the bottle isn't too cold (especially if it's butane - blue cylinder)? Try lighting the hob for a few seconds before trying to light the fridge.
Leisure battery is charged to supply the 12v to the igniter? The igniter has a power supply (no damaged / missing wires)?
Before trying to ignite, turn the gas knob as far as it will go, push it in and hold it there for approx 30 seconds and then switch the igniter on (this can help to increase the gas pressure to the burner).
If none of this gets a result then the fridge may need to come out for some servicing (worth doing occasionally anyway - remove carbon deposits from burner etc, make sure the gas jet isn't blocked by debris, make sure chimney and flue are clear of cobwebs etc, give it all a good clean round the back).
Once you've got the fridge running on gas, make sure that the van is parked as level as possible for the fridge to cool effectively. There's been loads of previous posts on here about servicing fridges and getting them to run on gas, try doing a search for other ideas on the subject.
Probably just a Holdsworth Villa problem though!!

I had a similar problem and it turned out to be a blocked jet, fairly easy to get at and clean out

You have turned the gas tap on under the sink havent you?
I mean right under the sink - not just the tap on top of the gas tank.

Yes you do, so try the easiest possible fixes first and then move on to the fridge servicing solutions . . . that would be my advice.

Taking the fridge out is a 10 minute job, probably worth while doing just to clean out behind it,
