aaz rebuild

So having found a suitable aaz ( Driving, but 173 on the clock )thinking about rebuilding it
Has anyone a spec of what I should be doing to it to get some more performance out of it
Overboring etc,also saw somewhere about using a tdi crank
Suggestions please

I'm sure Andy Simpson will be along soon enough to respond to this. In simple terms though it's about more air and more fuel, and getting rid of the heat. You only need to worry about major bottom-end changes if you get really extreme. The power recipe involves maxing the turbo boost, or a bigger turbo, and a rebuilt pump that can deliver more fuel than the stock item.
The late AAZ's came with a different style crank, also used in early TDi's that eliminate the 'fragile crank nose problem' suffered by most AAZ's.
If you're going to town on this, then of course you'll want to ensure the basic block is good to go, either by re-building, or getting a fresh one in the first place.
