Alternator issues - faintly glowing battery light.

I've got some alternator issues.

I get 14.4v on the main pillar on the alternator - but only 13.3v on the small lead that comes out (that goes to the battery light). Thats with the small lead disconnected.

So, whats going on? Is this the start of the end of my alternator? I can't see where the diode rectifier pack is - this must be integral to the alternator.

The model number is

Bosh 028 903 025 G - its a 70A one. Not sure that will mean anything to folk.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Ringo

Thanks Em - all sorted now.

A quick trip to the local scrappy produced an identical alternator for £25.

Just replaced it and it works a treat.

Also, its a damn sight quieter than the old one - jesus that made a racket....
