then you assume correct but the silicone will eat your steel
fridge won't start...on gas I presume.
what model is it?
propex ...what thermostat is it ...Mechanical or electronic?

Propex first
It's a small black box(thermostat) with a dial numbered 1-6(i think) on/off switch and a red and a green led
casing says "propex heating"

Fridge is a rm 212f
it has a rocker switch then when you turn it you can hear a constant spark
now i opened up the gas(fairly full bottle) hit the switch for maybe 20 seconds but no flame
all switches on right hand side were set to off and gas dial to 5
cheers

then its electronic...there is a special way to start these and I don't know what that is...I'll find out ..unless some one posts it.

no not at all ...it just means the thermostat is better at controlling the interior temp.

find the flue for the fridge and after trying to start it, go to it, and see if you can smell gas.
if you can't... check the bottle is turned on
and the gas tap in the van if you have one.
to check the safety by pass valve works on the fridge (knob you push in)
blow into the pipe and get someone to push the valve in (on 3) you should be able to blow through
OK?
