No, pump doesnt have to be primed. Could be the glow plug faulty/not working or fuse to the glow plug blown.
Have you got the correct size pipe to and from the pump, very thin, about 2mm internal width. Without this you will have problems.
Is pump operating ok eg. does it click about 4 or 6 times a second when pumping fuel through and slow down when fuel reaches heater?
If not, check power to pump. If ok it is probably the pump playing up a bit.
I do know that some of these heaters need to be 'reset' after 3 false starts and won't operate until the fault codes have been reset. Could be another reason for not starting.

Its a D2 but just pulled the fuel line off pump and no diesel?
We tapped into both sides because one is a return and still no Diesel.
It used to be a petrol motor but put AAZ in tank would not make a difference would it?

it certainly wont work if you have tapped it into the return.did you say the pump is ticking.

try sticking the fuel pipe into a can of diesel.and see if it works..like stated above it might need resetting after a few attempts..

Why is this?

i should think its because. if your using a larger diameter pipe.the pump is trying to suck up more juice than it should.i used fish tank pipe on mine when i first bought it.and had problems.changed to proper ebber pipe and its ok..this is what i bought.

in the outlet end of the pump there is a fine wire mesh filter, check it is not block, they grow cabbages in them ! just undo the 17mm nut, and wind the end off, and there it is....

Clear the fault code, or just disconnect main power if it's a D2, then as said before try from a diesel can. you get 200 and somthing attempts at a start before the control circuit locks up on a D2.
To check pump, disconnect fuel line to eber, stick intake into cup of diesel and connect pump to 12v with jump leads, every time you break/make contact with pump, pump should click and fuel should move approx 1" up standard eber fuel line, best to get fuel through pump this way then reconnect to eber and try starting it up again.
Oh and check fuel pump is inclined 15deg up at least, they don't like being horizontal.
worked for me!

All sorted now, there was a gradient in the Fuel line and juice was srtuggling to get to pump.
Thanks all.
