TDi syncro mpg?

Out of interest - and trying to talk myself into another syncro....
what do these TDi conversions get in mpg?
According to Parkercar guide a 1.9 tdi in an audi/passat/skoda etc do 45-74(

!) (-is this sort of engine, whats an AAZ i've seen mentioned?)
Any ideas for example in a single cab pickup or fully kitted camper?
s'pose gbox type and other factors would also need to be fiddled with to find best option for everyday use....
No doubt some of you clever bods

will have discussed this before but can't find it all together.
Cheers

Ta for that - interesting thread.......
So loaded tdi syncro camper 30mpg general running about, to 36 on a run with your biege trousers on.
Although
elec tdi not as good (what ever that is

), but rebuilt gbox with longer gears (?) better...
Standard 1.6 diesel runs about 35mpg but gutless (no offence

)
So doka or pick up would be lighter = achieve more...
What is consensus (silly of me

) on best engine and gearbox combination?
Cheers

Tdi is best for economy but AAZ with longer gear ratios is alot nicer to drive.

Can anyone clarify one other thing -
Is the 'longer gears' thing is a gbox modification or is it fitting a certain model standard gbox?
When speaking to HA Project people (
www.ha-projekt.de) at vanfest they were insistant that syncro gearbox should be modified when doing a TDi conversion.
Am I right in thinking its usual to simply mate up to standard box over here?
Cheers

Gearbox mod, third and fourth gears replaced normally.

Talk to Beaker about gearboxes. He has all the bits to do what you need to be done.
